The Chronic Problem with the Chronic War: The Miseducation of a Society

Yesterday morning the LA Times reported… “Congress quietly ends federal government’s ban on medical marijuana”.  Nestled deeply within the newly passed spending bill was an amendment that prohibits the Department of Justice from using funds to target medical cannabis programs.  Quite honestly, I can’t believe we are finally moving toward resolving this issue!  I can add that to the list of things I didn’t believe I’d see in my lifetime.  To me, this is progress… in a number of different ways.  First and foremost, this is a hopeful sign of cooperation (of the nonpartisan variety).  Secondly, and most important, this means a shift in our society’s belief system.  We must move past the idea that cannabis use makes you a bad person; for years this has been a scapegoat for our society’s blind eye to the growing abuse of alcohol and prescription drugs.   Until recently, there was as much propaganda being used to discourage…
